The design of an effective sensor fusion model for condition monitoring systems of turning processes
High energy price and the increasing requirements of quality and low cost of products have created an urgent need to implement new technologies in current automated manufacturing environments. Condition monitoring systems of manufacturing processes have been recognised in recent years as one of the essential technologies that provide the competitive advantage in many manufacturing environments. This research aims to develop an effective sensor fusion model for turning processes for the detection of tool wear. Multi-sensors combined with a novelty detection algorithm and Learning Vector Quantisation (LVQ) neural networks are used in this research to detect tool wear and provide diagnostic and prognostic information. A novel approach, termed ASPST, (Automated Sensor and Signal Processing Selection System for Turning) is used to select the most appropriate sensors and signal processing methods. The aim is to reduce the number of sensors needed in the overall system and reduce the cost. The ASPST approach is based on simplifying complex sensory signals into a group of Sensory Characteristic Features (SCFs) and evaluating the sensitivity of these SCFs in detecting tool wear. A wide range of sensory signals (cutting forces, strain, acceleration, acoustic emission and sound) and signal processing methods are also implemented to verify the capability of the approach. A cost reduction method is also implemented based on eliminating the least utilised sensor in an attempt to reduce the overall cost of the system without sacrificing the capability of the condition monitoring system. The experimental results prove that the suggested approach provides a responsive and effective solution in monitoring tool wear in turning with reduced time and cost
Molecular epidemiology of human cutaneous leishmaniasis in Jericho and its vicinity in Palestine from 1994 to 2015
Cutaneous leishmaniases (CL) are vector-borne parasitic diseases endemic inmany countries of the Middle East
including Palestine. Between 1994 and 2015, 2160 clinically suspected human cases of CL from the Jericho District
were examined. Stained skin tissue smears and aspirates were checked by microscopy and cultured for
promastigotes, respectively. For leishmanial species identification, amplification products from a PCR-ITS1
followed by RFLP analysis using Hae III. Data were analyzed using Epi Info free-software. The overall infection
rate was 41.4% (895/2160), 56.3% (504/895) of the cases were male, 43.7% (391/895) female, 60.5% (514/849)
children under age 14, 41.3% (259/627) of the cases were caused by Leishmania major and 57.3% (359/627) by
Leishmania tropica. The case numbers peaked in 1995, 2001, 2004, and 2012. Statistically-significant clusters of
cases caused by L. major were restricted to the Jericho District; those caused by L. tropica were from the districts
of Jericho, Bethlehem, Nablus and Tubas. CL is seasonal and trails the sand fly season. Distribution of cases was
parabolicwith fewest in July. Themonthly total number of cases of CL and just those caused by L.major correlated
significantly with temperature, rainfall, relative humidity, evaporation, wind speed and sunshine (P b 0.05, r2=
0.7â0.9 and P b 0.05, r2=0.5â0.8, respectively). Cases caused by L. tropica, significantly, had a single lesion compared
to cases caused by L. major (P=0.0001), which, significantly, had multiple lesions (P=0.0001). This and
previous studies showed that CL is present in all Palestinian districts. The surveillance of CL has increased public
awareness and molecular biologicalmethodology for leishmanial species identification is an essential addition to
classical diagnosis. The overall results are discussed, correlated to climatic and environmental changes and largescale

COMPARISON OF ACTIVITY CONCENTRATIONS OF NATURAL RADIONUCLIDES IN SOILS COLLECTED AT DIFFERENT DEPTHS OF SELECTED HAND-DUG WELLS IN ABEOKUTA
This study was aimed at measuring and comparing the activity concentration of soil samples collected from some selected hand â dug wells with their corresponding depths of collection in Abeokuta metropolis. Total of twenty (20) soil samples were collected from hand-dug wells in five sites (Obada, Adigbe, Kuto, Olorunsogo, and Obantoko) within Abeokuta with four (4) soil samples from each hand-dug well at the surface, (0.0m) through to 2.25m depth. Gamma ray spectroscopy with High Purity Germanium (HPGe) detector was used for the measurements. The average activity concentrations obtained for the three natural radionuclides 226Ra, 232Th and 40K in Bq/Kg are 34.31 ± 2.01, 128.73 ± 4.41 and 152.31 ± 2.59 respectively at depth 0.00 m (surface), 23.00 ± 1.61, 68.39 ± 3.24 and 191.08 ± 3.11 respectively at depth 0.75 m, 31.52 ± 2.21, 145.37± 4.95 and 375.56 ± 5.50 respectively at 1.50 m and lastly 28.57±1.70, 95.61 ± 3.71 and 181.10 ± 3.94 respectively at 2.25 m depth. The world average activity concentrations for 226Ra, 232Th and 40K are given to be 35 Bqkg-1, 30 Bqkg-1 and 400 Bqkg-1 respectively (UNSCEAR 2000). 232Th showed higher average values than the worldâs average while averages of 226Ra and 40K were lower but most of the activity concentration values obtained in some of the locations are higher than the worldâs average values, especially 226Raand 232Th in the soil samples.
Physiciansâ Perceptions of Electronic Prescribing with Electronic Medical Records in Kuwaiti Primary Healthcare Centres
Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate physiciansâ perceptions of electronic prescribing in Kuwaiti primary healthcare centres. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted between June and August 2017 among 368 physicians from 25 primary healthcare centres in Kuwait. Data were collected from the participants using a self-reported questionnaire, including sociodemographic characteristics, previous experience with computers and awareness, knowledge and use of e-prescribing systems and their functional features. In addition, perceptions of the benefits and levels of satisfaction associated with e-prescribing were explored. Results: A total of 306 physicians completed the survey (response rate: 83%). The majority had positive perceptions regarding the use of e-prescribing, particularly in terms of time-savings (86%), healthcare quality (84%), productivity (80%) and clinical workflow and efficiency (83%). However, many respondents indicated that e-prescribing systems required additional improvements in terms of functionality. Conclusion: Most physicians in primary healthcare centres in Kuwait recognised the importance of e-prescribing to improve the quality of patient care, streamline workflow, increase productivity and reduce medical errors. However, there is a need to improve the design and infrastructure of e-prescribing systems, which may aid in the adoption of such systems in Kuwait.

Genetic, serological and biochemical characterization of Leishmania tropica from foci in northern Palestine and discovery of zymodeme MON-307
Background
Many cases of cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) have been recorded in the Jenin District based on their clinical appearance. Here, their parasites have been characterized in depth.
Methods
Leishmanial parasites isolated from 12 human cases of CL from the Jenin District were cultured as promastigotes, whose DNA was extracted. The ITS1 sequence and the 7SL RNA gene were analysed as was the kinetoplast minicircle DNA (kDNA) sequence. Excreted factor (EF) serotyping and multilocus enzyme electrophoresis (MLEE) were also applied.
Results
This extensive characterization identified the strains as Leishmania tropica of two very distinct sub-types that parallel the two sub-groups discerned by multilocus microsatellite typing (MLMT) done previously. A high degree of congruity was displayed among the results generated by the different analytical methods that had examined various cellular components and exposed intra-specific heterogeneity among the 12 strains.
Three of the ten strains subjected to MLEE constituted a new zymodeme, zymodeme MON-307, and seven belonged to the known zymodeme MON-137. Ten of the 15 enzymes in the profile of zymodeme MON-307 displayed different electrophoretic mobilities compared with the enzyme profile of the zymodeme MON-137. The closest profile to that of zymodeme MON-307 was that of the zymodeme MON-76 known from Syria.
Strains of the zymodeme MON-307 were EF sub-serotype A2 and those of the zymodeme MON-137 were either A9 or A9B4. The sub-serotype B4 component appears, so far, to be unique to some strains of L. tropica of zymodeme MON-137. Strains of the zymodeme MON-137 displayed a distinctive fragment of 417 bp that was absent in those of zymodeme MON-307 when their kDNA was digested with the endonuclease RsaI. kDNA-RFLP after digestion with the endonuclease MboI facilitated a further level of differentiation that partially coincided with the geographical distribution of the human cases from which the strains came.
Conclusions
The Palestinian strains that were assigned to different genetic groups differed in their MLEE profiles and their EF types. A new zymodeme, zymodeme MON-307 was discovered that seems to be unique to the northern part of the Palestinian West Bank. What seemed to be a straight forward classical situation of L. tropica causing anthroponotic CL in the Jenin District might be a more complex situation, owing to the presence of two separate sub-types of L. tropica that, possibly, indicates two separate transmission cycles involving two separate types of phlebotomine sand fly vector

Inclusive J/Ï production at mid-rapidity in pp collisions at âs = 5.02 TeV
Inclusive J/Ï production is studied in minimum-bias proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of s = 5.02 TeV by ALICE at the CERN LHC. The measurement is performed at mid-rapidity (|y| < 0.9) in the dielectron decay channel down to zero transverse momentum pT, using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of Lint = 19.4 ± 0.4 nbâ1. The measured pT-integrated inclusive J/Ï production cross sec- tion is dÏ/dy = 5.64 ± 0.22(stat.) ± 0.33(syst.) ± 0.12(lumi.) ÎŒb. The pT-differential cross section d2Ï/dpTdy is measured in the pT range 0â10 GeV/c and compared with state-of- the-art QCD calculations. The J/Ï ăpTă and ăpT2ă are extracted and compared with results obtained at other collision energies. [Figure not available: see fulltext.]

Measurement of Î (1520) production in pp collisions at âs=7TeV and pâPb collisions at âsNN=5.02TeV
The production of the Î (1520) baryonic resonance has been measured at midrapidity in inelastic pp collisions at s=7TeV and in pâPb collisions at sNN=5.02TeV for non-single diffractive events and in multiplicity classes. The resonance is reconstructed through its hadronic decay channel Î (1520) â pK - and the charge conjugate with the ALICE detector. The integrated yields and mean transverse momenta are calculated from the measured transverse momentum distributions in pp and pâPb collisions. The mean transverse momenta follow mass ordering as previously observed for other hyperons in the same collision systems. A Blast-Wave function constrained by other light hadrons (Ï, K, KS0, p, Î) describes the shape of the Î (1520) transverse momentum distribution up to 3.5GeV/c in pâPb collisions. In the framework of this model, this observation suggests that the Î (1520) resonance participates in the same collective radial flow as other light hadrons. The ratio of the yield of Î (1520) to the yield of the ground state particle Î remains constant as a function of charged-particle multiplicity, suggesting that there is no net effect of the hadronic phase in pâPb collisions on the Î (1520) yield

Measurement of electrons from heavy-flavour hadron decays as a function of multiplicity in p-Pb collisions at âsNN = 5.02 TeV
The multiplicity dependence of electron production from heavy-flavour hadron decays as a function of transverse momentum was measured in p-Pb collisions at sNN = 5.02 TeV using the ALICE detector at the LHC. The measurement was performed in the centre-of-mass rapidity interval â1.07 < ycms< 0.14 and transverse momentum interval 2 < pT< 16 GeV/c. The multiplicity dependence of the production of electrons from heavy-flavour hadron decays was studied by comparing the pT spectra measured for different multiplicity classes with those measured in pp collisions (QpPb) and in peripheral p-Pb collisions (Qcp). The QpPb results obtained are consistent with unity within uncertainties in the measured pT interval and event classes. This indicates that heavy-flavour decay electron production is consistent with binary scaling and independent of the geometry of the collision system. Additionally, the results suggest that cold nuclear matter effects are negligible within uncertainties, in the production of heavy-flavour decay electrons at midrapidity in p-Pb collisions. Measurement of prompt D0, D+, D*+, and DS+ production in pâPb collisions at âsNN = 5.02 TeV
The measurement of the production of prompt D0, D+, D*+, and DS+ mesons in protonâlead (pâPb) collisions at the centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of sNN = 5.02 TeV, with an integrated luminosity of 292 ± 11 ÎŒbâ1, are reported. Differential production cross sections are measured at mid-rapidity (â0.96 < ycms< 0.04) as a function of transverse momentum (pT) in the intervals 0 < pT< 36 GeV/c for D0, 1 < pT< 36 GeV/c for D+ and D*+, and 2 < pT< 24 GeV/c for D+ mesons. For each species, the nuclear modification factor RpPb is calculated as a function of pT using a proton-proton (pp) ref- erence measured at the same collision energy. The results are compatible with unity in the whole pT range. The average of the non-strange D mesons RpPb is compared with theoretical model predictions that include initial-state effects and parton transport model predictions. The pT dependence of the D0, D+, and D*+ nuclear modification factors is also reported in the interval 1 < pT< 36 GeV/c as a function of the collision centrality, and the central-to-peripheral ratios are computed from the D-meson yields measured in different centrality classes. The results are further compared with charged-particle measurements and a similar trend is observed in all the centrality classes. The ratios of the pT-differential cross sections of D0, D+, D*+, and DS+ mesons are also reported. The DS+ and D+ yields are compared as a function of the charged-particle multiplicity for several pT intervals. No modification in the relative abundances of the four species is observed with respect to pp collisions within the statistical and systematic uncertainties. [Figure not available: see fulltext.]
